Photo-Switching of Protein Dynamical Collectivity

چکیده
We examine changes in the picosecond structural dynamics with irreversible photobleaching of red fluorescent proteins (RFP) mCherry, mOrange2 and TagRFP-T. Measurements protein dynamical transition using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy show all cases an increase turn-on temperature bleached state. The result is surprising given that there little change surface, thus, solvent held responsible for should not change. A spectral analysis measurements guided by quasiharmonic calculations absorbance reveals indeed independent thermal stability/photostate however shifts to higher temperatures. This first demonstration switching functional observed shift relative indicates required mobile waters necessary motions, is, these motions are more collective. Melting-point reveal photobleached state thermally stable, related RFP’s shows internal water channels as well a uniform atomic root mean squared displacement. These observations consistent previous suggestions form extended light excitation providing O2 access chromophore subsequent fluorescence loss. report same coupling enhancing stability collectivity motions. spectroscopic characterization onsets can be applied generally measure

متن کاملQuantifying collectivity
In biological function emerges from the interactions of components with only partially aligned interests. An example is the brain-a large aggregation of neurons capable of producing unitary, coherent output. A theory for how such aggregations produce coherent output remains elusive. A first question we might ask is how collective is the behavior of the components? Here we introduce two properti...
متن کاملEEG Switching: Three Views from Dynamical Systems
There is evidence that the same neural substrate may support different dynamical regimes and hence give rise to different EEG signals. However, the literature lacks successful attempts to systematically explain the different regimes —and the switching between them— within a coherent setting. We explore a mathematical model of neural tissue and call upon concepts from dynamical systems to propos...

Two important pieces of nuclear structure are many-body collective deformations and single-particle spin-orbit splitting. The former can be well-described microscopically by simple SU(3) irreps, but the latter mixes SU(3) irreps, which presents a challenge for large-scale, ab initio calculations on fast modern computers. Nonetheless, SU(3)-like phenomenology remains even in the face of strong m...
متن کاملMulti-scale Switching Linear Dynamical Systems
Switching linear dynamic systems can monitor dynamic systems that operate in different regimes. In this article we introduce a class of multi-scale switching linear dynamical systems that are particularly suited if such regimes form a hierarchy. The setup consists of a specific switching linear dynamical system for every level of coarseness. Jeffrey’s rule of conditioning is used to coordinate ...
